Starting Something New

This website launches at what feels like quite the wobbly time. A new president is set to take office, my life is changing, the world feels as if it spinning faster and faster and there's a sudden urgency to create and to create a space for my creations. I hope to document whatever professional or personal growth I am able to experience from here on out.

In a cruise ship cabin last month, my girlfriend and I watched TV, sailing through the caribbean at night. Nine channels were available, three of them news from different ideological perspectives. ESPN catered to the region and so we watched this interactive disaster series in which people recounted the near-death experiences they escaped, a narrator offering options to the viewer throughout the way. As a woman described a scene in which a boat she and a hundred others were on capsized, the narrator offered these as the possible best course of action: a) hold on for dear life b) help others struggling c) dive into the water. The smartest thing to do was to dive head in and so this is the spirit with which I'll enter the new year, nightmares of the sea be damned.
