On Roam: A 2016 Playlist

Frank Ocean, Kanye, Drake. There was plenty of anticipation in 2016. The build-up, the update, the clue. The rollout. The reaction. Album releases felt segmented over months and seasons, the story of the reveal rivaling the story of the work. 

And then there was new music I encountered in less of a blunt force manner. Keeping with the balance of things, I learned to dig into Spotify the same year I learned how to dig through crates. Rather than any top list or ranking, below, a playlist of some of my favorite 2016 discoveries, the songs that came without suspense. Like the chocolate river to Augustus Gloop, obsessions I hadn't seen coming.
